Apple just pushed the iTunes 9.1 update that adds iPad and iBooks support as iPad shipping starts this Saturday, which is just a couple of days away. It is going to be interesting to see iBooks sales as Amazon Kindle is currently the leader in eBooks with the massive Kindle Store.
Apple’s iTunes music store has been a great success with astronomical sales. The movies and TV shows also have been doing quite well with the new Rent option available. The AppStore is again a win which goes without saying. It would be interesting to see the iBooks store trends. Specially with the massive Kindle store out in the wild with millions of books and users.
Perhaps, if Apple released the iBooks application for the iPhone and iPod touch just like the Kindle app, then iBooks store sales would be affected in a good way. But again, the iPad is just a larger iPod touch with some exclusive applications. So Apple would not want to release an iBooks app as it would reduce a feature from the iPad.
Lets see how things go on April 3…
